
Austria’s Porr Group has gained a €428m design-and-build contract to renovate a 33km railway that runs between the southwest Romanian cities of Craiova, Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Caransebeș.
The challenge will make the road double-track, and can contain the reconstruction of 18 bridges in addition to the 496m-long Rachitoberg Tunnel. It should additionally construct a 1,279m twin-track tunnel and improve six stations.
