Kyrgyzstan has began constructing its third worldwide airport in Jalal-Abad, its third greatest metropolis.
As reported by The Occasions of Central Asia, the 380ha airport may have a two-storey, 10,000-sq-m terminal and a 3,800m-long runway.
The brand new facility is separate from the present Jalal-Abad Airport, a home airport which opened in 1938 and was expanded in 1972.
The EU blacklisted all of Kyrgyzstan’s airways in 2006 over inadequate security. The nation has since employed a marketing consultant to reform the sector, and earlier this week despatched a delegation to Brussels to make the case for its reinstatement.
Sadyr Japarov, Kyrgyzstan’s president, stated: “Since 2021, Kyrgyzstan has elevated passenger visitors by 46% and the variety of flights by 31%. New plane have been acquired, and beforehand idle regional airports have resumed operations.”
A brand new entity, Asman Airways, was based in 2023 for home flights.
Work started on a brand new terminal at Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Worldwide Airport in February 2025.
