Japanese-Singapore team to build tunnels under Changi T5

A three way partnership of Japan’s Penta-Ocean Building Firm and Singapore’s Koh Brothers Constructing & Civil Engineering has gained a $780m contract to construct connecting tunnels below terminal 5 at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The intra-terminal tunnels will switch passengers and baggage.

A collection of sub-tunnels may also be constructed for an automatic individuals mover, baggage dealing with and utilities.

The JV may also assemble a air flow constructing and preliminary work for a future underground infrastructure tunnel.

Ong Chee Chiau, Changi Airport Group’s managing director for Changi East, mentioned: “The award of the T5’s intra-terminal tunnel works marks one other necessary improvement within the development of T5 and the broader Changi East mission.

“These tunnels will allow the graceful and environment friendly motion of passengers, baggage and providers.”
