The UK’s Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) and Beirut-headquartered advisor Dar Al-Handasah have gained a design consultancy contract for Africa’s largest airport, to be positioned south of Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa in Abusera.
The airport’s first section is estimated to price US$6bn. It would accommodate 60 million passengers yearly, rising to 110 million in later phases.
The shopper is Ethiopian Airways, Africa’s largest airline.
The 600,000-sq-m airport will complement the airline’s present residence at Addis Ababa’s Bole Worldwide Airport, which has restricted capability to develop.
A ZHA press launch states that the brand new airport may have an Ethiopian look impressed by the native panorama.
