
An Italian three way partnership of Webuild and Vianini Lavori has gained a €2bn contract to construct a 4km extension of Rome’s metro Line C with 4 new stations.
The brand new stretch will move 25m underneath the Tiber River and join Venezia Station with the brand new Clodio/Mazzini station, which shall be joined by new stations at Chiesa Nuova, San Pietro and Ottaviano, the latter linking to Rome’s Line A.
Webuild described Chiesa Nuova and San Pietro as being “archaeological stations” that may match into Rome’s city material.

Chiesa Nuova Station shall be near the Church of Santa Maria in Vallicella (pictured) and the Oratorio dei Filippini.
Building will contain the staff constructing 90m deep diaphragms.
Work is because of start in January 2026 as soon as the manager design has been signed off.
The brand new contract is an extension to the three way partnership’s work on the San Giovanni–Colosseo/Fori Imperiali part of Line C, which is within the ultimate testing part.
When each jobs are accomplished, Line C will stretch 26km and have 29 stations from Rome’s southeast to northwest.
