
Switzerland’s Implenia has gained a €200m contract to construct two rail tunnels below Frankfurt for German state rail infrastructure operator DB InfraGO.
The route will run from a brand new S-Bahn station at Konstablerwache within the metropolis centre to Fechenheim within the north east.
The route will likely be a part of the Nordmainische S-Bahn, a deliberate railway between Frankfurt, Hanau, and the city of Maintal.
Implenia will do preliminary excavation and development for the S-Bahn station, drill two 1.2km-long tunnel tubes with boring machines, and perform intensive water administration measures.
