Balfour Beatty to lengthen runway at North Carolina airport

British contractor Balfour Beatty has gained a $30m contract to ship a 900ft runway and taxiway extension at Albert J Ellis Airport in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

As normal contractor, Balfour Beatty will set up a medium-intensity method mild system and runway. It should additionally construct an entrance to the airport’s roadway and full realignment work for North Carolina Freeway 111.

The airport is owned by Onslow County, and serves the Jacksonville, Wilmington, New Bern and Japanese North Carolina areas.

Josh Taylor, Balfour Beatty North Carolina’s venture government, stated: “Balfour Beatty will leverage its intensive expertise within the supply of runway expansions to ship these thrilling new additions to Albert J Ellis Airport.

“As soon as full, the revitalised airport will present a handy journey expertise for passengers and the driving public who come to and from Onslow County.”

Development is because of start in spring 2025.
