
A former development advisor for McDonald’s has been charged with bribery after he allegedly accepted a US$10,000 watch.
The case has been introduced by Hong Kong’s Unbiased Fee Towards Corruption in opposition to Ling Mun-tong.
Mr Ling, 45, was employed by MHK Eating places, which operates 200 McDonald’s in Hong Kong.
The case pertains to the awarding of renovation work to an organization known as Wardson Deco-Development. The state is claiming that Ling was given the watch in return for awarding contracts to Wardson.
Between September 2021 and December 2023, Wardson was awarded 34 contracts for renovations and 14 for minor works. These had been mentioned to be value a complete of US$2.3m.
The South China Morning Put up notes that Ling faces a separate cost of financial institution fraud.
